House of hate

As I mentioned a few posts ago, Sherry and I recently started watching the series House of Cards on Netflix. It struck me last night—again—what a difficult show this is to watch, given that the protagonists are so despicable. And they can't possibly receive the comeuppance they so richly deserve—can they?

That question is the only thing that keeps me watching.

On the other hand, the show has renewed my faith in the political system. And my father was Archduke Franz Ferdinand.

I binge watched 11 episodes of HoC USA version over the weekend. It has clearly been re-written for Netflix. The entire three book series - House of Cards, To Play the King and The Final Cut were only 12 episodes in the UK.

They all meet very Shakespearian ends in the original. The story arc is very different with the Netflix version. Hard not to be when the current version is more than three times as long as the original story.

Like you - I will have to keep watching to see how this very different version turns out.

The third season shows went up on Netflix last Friday. We're about seven episodes in. I have been doing a lot of cackling so far.
