Our newest kids

kirk 5.10.13

Sherry and I just got these photos of our new kittens. They are Ragdoll cats. Ragdolls are gentle, affectionate cats, and the males can grow to be 20 pounds.

The one on top is named Zevon; that's Zappa on the bottom. They're at the breeder's now and should be coming home with us in mid-June.

The dogs we have now always have had cats in the house, so it won't be a big deal for them. They would try to play with the cats; there never was any dog vs. cat fighting going on.

The Ragdoll breed is known for getting along well with dogs, so I'm thinking there won't be any problems. We have a room where we can leave the cats. It has a gate across the door, so the critters will be able to get used to each other at their own place.

D'awwwwwww! They're so cute. I've met a few Ragdolls and they really are sweet cats.

Glad to hear your experience matches what I've heard. I've also heard it takes them up to three years to mature. I guess that means they'll act like kittens longer, which would be cool.

My psychologist has three. All of them would come say "hello" while I was waiting, but the momma is the most friendly. I'm not sure how old she is, but she likes to eat the potted plants and play with those toys that hang on a stick, whereas my grown cat only plays with toys once in a while.

? Just saying that's what happens to me around cats... or, well, animals in general apparently. Today at the ER someone brought in this teeny little baby turtle the size of one of those gold foil chocolate coins, and I involuntarily SQUEE'd at it and the doctors looked at me in alarm going WHAT? WHAT? And I'm like "... it's so cute!" ^^;;;;
