Spontaneous combustion

Today in class, Cmac and I showed a video clip of Bob Marley performing. Then we talked about Marley's lyrics and his focus on social justice. Then the students told us about social injustices they would like to see corrected. They told us, with great feeling, about truly important things in their lives.

Then Chris showed a video about the importance of wonder, the importance of gratefully viewing every day, every moment, as a unique gift. (sahlah posted the video earlier this week.) I had never seen it. At times, my jaw literally dropped.

Then class was over.

Everything had been spontaneous.

This is a writing course. And that is what we talked about today.

Sometimes, I just think it's too cool that we spend our days sitting around and discussing IDEAS.

I should note that most of the students were disappointed because we weren't talking about subject-verb agreement.
