Oh, no, not you again

Every week Ticketmaster sends me what they call a TicketAlert, an update of shows I might want to see, based on my buying history with them.

This week's alert gave me a chance to buy:

Premium Box Seats: Kiss/Motley Crue

Just two words apply here: wretched excess.

I hope you're seeing a show that's so good I'll be pissed off 'cause I missed it.

Well, I don't want you to be pissed off, but holy crap, was it a great show, a perfect ending to the summer concert series.

Peter Wolf is as energetic, animated, and engaging a front man as a band could ask for. I cannot believe I was watching a 66 yr. old man dance across that stage all night. Magic Dick was spectacular on the harmonica, and they had three horns players from NYC join them. What a tight, talented band.

I am glad you saw such a great show. Had you ever seen them before? I saw them five times (long, long ago, of course), but it would have been great to see that they've still got it. Oh, well: Sometimes the coin comes up heads, sometimes tails.

I'd never seen them before, no. Kiddo had, Boston Garden back in the day... five times, huh? That's noteworthy!

Re: Listening to the music...
The only time I *didn't* enjoy seeing J. Geils was when they played in Rich Stadium, opening for Yes. And the fact that I didn't enjoy their performance is the only thing I can remember from that concert.

The upcoming concert list looks pretty bleak. Steven and I are going to see Steve Vai at U.B. later in the month, but that's all I see on the horizon. Vai was, in Frank's words, Zappa's "stunt guitarist," which is saying something because Zappa was one of the great but truly unappreciated guitarists of his time. He had a spectacular imagination and chops to match.

Aimee Mann is touring to support her new album, but I don't see any Buffalo or Rochester dates on her website. Please give me a shout if you hear something; she's on my "gotta see" list, especially because I've never seen here. I think Band of Skulls is touring, too.

Sort of like Facebook where they recommend friends to you because you mutually like Amazon.

Or when Amazon sends product notices because they think you might like something, based on previous purchases. They know me about as well as they know my dogs.
