A headline from today's local newspaper:

Texting in class may distract college students from learning.

I like the use of the word "may." Gotta leave a little wiggle room, after all.

I fear I skipped that story. I read the headline and decided none of the other beings in my house needed me screaming at the paper that early.

The subhead was worse because it was so lame.

I think they need more pictures of cute kids in the paper, don't you?

A similar article was recently forwarded to all the faculty at the other school I work for. It took me about 2 minutes to realize it wasn't a joke email.

But yeah, the qualifier "may" is...wait, I'm sorry, I was texting and forgot how I wanted to finish that sentence.

I hope the headline writer was trying to be funny, but the subhead was so lame I'm afraid that's not the case.
