As of this posting (10 a.m. Monday), Sarah Palin's gun scope map was still up on her Facebook page, even as Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona (one of the "targeted" members of Congress on the Palin map) remains hospitalized after being shot Saturday in Tucson. Here's a medical update from today's New York Times: (A report from Rep. Giffords' surgeons.)
As a colleague of mine said about Palin, "Her PR people have to be throwing up." Do they take the map down or leave it up? What will people read between the lines in either instance?
I don't often venture into politics on this blog, and despite many temptations, I've never written here about Sarah Palin. But this episode has me shaking my head. Why not take the map down, simply as a gesture of compassion, respect and sympathy? What am I missing?

Is Palin and her political dream team just demonstrating their complete lack of sensitivity? I think so.
(Warning: may make your head explode.)
