Bon appetit!

I have had a fine, fine weekend from a nutritional point of view. Since Friday night, this is everything I have eaten:

• 2 pounds of pistachios.

• A little more than a pound and a half of chocolate.

• Six breadsticks from Little Caesar's.

• A plate of cold spaghetti.

• Six little cinnamon rolls.

And not an hour after eating the last of the pistachios this afternoon, I found a big bag of red licorice. I figure I'll eat a pound of that before I go to bed.

Fortunately, I've been offsetting the dietary carnage by drinking responsible beverages, mostly diet 7-Up, with coffee for breakfast and the occasional glass of orange juice.

Yum!

Are you sure you're a professor during finals week and not a student? :)

I'm sure. There hasn't been any Keystone Light on the menu.

I've got a sympathy-nutrition-deprivation headache.

I can't stop myself from eating crap. I mean, I have zero willpower.

Mmmm...this weekend I could trump you, what with the lunch I had at Burger King, the fried ice cream dessert I had tonight, and the plethora of fat-laden snacks I had at home.

But licorice....what a find! That makes me hungry.

Ooooh, fried ice cream ....

Tops has this great red licorice. It's red, round, twisty, about as thick as your thumb, and cut in pieces about 2 inches long. Best red licorice ever.

Funny you should mention red licorice - I had pondered a post about it over the weekend.

What's the brand name of this alleged "best licorice ever" product? I'm a red (strawberry only - no cherry crap) Twizzler fan, myself. No pull-and-peel, no nuggets, just the regular red kind Sherry and I used to sip our lambrusco through. Ah... good times.

It's in the bulk foods section at Tops: Lucky Country Gourmet Licorice.

My dentist is glad we've discovered it.

This weekend has been a nutritional bottom-out for me, too. I had my first bacon, pepperoni and roast beef in over a year all today (at separate meals, but still). Mmmm saturated fats in my arteries. Perhaps my willpower will return tomorrow.

Bacon, pepperoni and roast beef might make for a helluva sandwich.

My last trip to Wallyworld resulted in an impulse purchase of Reese's Peanut Butter Cup ice cream. Printed on the front of the carton: "NOT A LIGHT FOOD." Its deliciosity was worth every calorie, although the form-fitting bridesmaid dress I need to fit into in two weeks may not agree.

Yeah, sure. As if one ice cream cone is going to make you look like a zeppelin.

haha! Not one cone--one carton. And that's just the tip of the unnutritious iceberg... I'm not concerned about becoming a zeppelin, but these darn dresses do not leave any room for dessert.
