Gumming up the guttyworks

title or description

Yesterday morning at work, in the space of about half an hour, I ate about a hundred gumballs. Popped them into my mouth one, two, three, four at a time, chewed them a half-minute or so, and swallowed them. I'm pretty sure that's unhealthy in more ways than one.

Is that 7-years-to-digest-gum rule true? If it is, I think you've gummed up the works enough to have had the equivalent of bariatric surgery.

I had never heard of that rule. Ulp!

I also should note that the gumballs I was eating were eight years old. They were as fresh as they were the day I bought them, which leads me to think that if all but a few people are wiped off the earth by nuclear war or a meteor strike, the survivors will be able to live on gumballs.

The unsettling part is that I literally could not stop eating them. "OK, a couple more and then I'll quit ..."

Hmm, cockroaches, Twinkies, and now gumballs. Yeesh! My stomach is churning at the thought.

I hope they were the miniature gumballs you might buy in bulk at a grocery store, and not the mini golf balls from a dispenser.

The mini ones, right. Anything bigger and they break my teeth.
