In the quiet morning, I ease into the workday by sipping coffee in my living room while night fog fades away and reveals my ideas for the day. A few moments in the undimming light, no sound but the songs in my brain—that’s how I want to start my day.

I want to slip unnoticed onto the expressway, picking the right speed to merge seamlessly into traffic. I want to be part of the pack, passing no one and being passed by no one. Give me twelve lanes of peace and quiet, and all speed away from human sorrow.

Twelve lanes of peace and quiet, no one vying for position - what a great image. Away from sorrow is a good thing, too, but towards what, joy? More peace? Or is away from sorrow enough. *Off to ponder*

I stole the lines from Constantines ("Do What You Can Do"), so I don't know what they mean.

I couldn't think of a word that meant the opposite of "dimming," so that's what I came up with. I didn't know if it was a word, but it said what I wanted to say, and besides, poetic license and all that.
