I needed something besides pills to bring sleep around at night, so I figured music would help—I’d make a playlist of jazz, I was thinking Miles like Kinda Blue, and I sorted all my music by genre—or what passes for genre in iTunesville—and loaded my pod with all the jazz I got and some of it’s OK, mellow to drift off to as the pills drift in, and for the most part it slumbers me, but every other night or so I roll over round 2 in the morning and damned Bitches Brew is waking me up.

You're gonna have to hide that one - change it's genre to rock - where it might belong anyway. :)

Sorry sleep eludes. I've seen 2 am lately more nights than I care to admit. If I could marshal my knitting skills at that hours I could have an afghan done now instead of a shawl. Take care.

From what I'm reading, you've got lots of reason to be tossing and turning at night. Our government is despised at home and laughed at around the world. American exceptionalism!

Well, um, er...you could take it out of the rotation...

I was desperate for a quick playlist. I was listening to my treadmill playlist, but that wasn't working for obvious reasons. The jazz playlist was a fill-in until I could build a sleepy-time playlist. I've got 255 songs (first song: Ace, "How Long") and am just now getting to Django Reinhardt.

I never really heard much Miles Davis - but we just got done watching Ken Burns' "Jazz" series and now I'm interested in hearing some. But if I was trying to go to sleep, I don't know that jazz would be my choice so much as classical.

I have a little classical music in my library: Beethoven's symphonies, some Tchaikovsky, some Shostakovich—that's it. I don't know how suitable any of it is for sleeping. All I know is that I would steer away from Beethoven's Ninth at bedtime.
